Books I've Read Lately

I have read a lot of different and amazing books lately. "Out of the Dust" and "The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate" are really different but still really good books.
"Out of the Dust" is told using poems but it's good, if I were to mark it out of 10, I would definitely give it a 10. "The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate" is about this girl named Calpurnia Tate who is interested in science, you might think that is normal but for a girl in the 20th century,  definitely not....And don't forget, she is the only girl in her six brothers, imagine the problems that she faces!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series

OMG! It is the best book I've ever read, well, for now it is. I think it is a bit better than Gregor the Overlander, you can imagine how good it is.

When Ms. Stacia recommended this book to me, I was like, "Uh.... Ok... Maybe...." and I thought that it would be soooo boring just like the movie but I was absolutely, incredibly wrong! It is a breath-taking book and I can't describe how much I love it!!!!

It is about a half god, half human boy named Percy. His father is Poseidon so he can control water, not get wet when he just came out from water, breath underwater and cure injury using water. Isn't that cool? Well, he um... his father is one of what they call 'The Big Ones'. The Big Ones include Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, the three main gods. They made an oath to not have more children but Poseidon did and it was Percy. He approach quests and met his best friends, Annabeth (Athena's child) and Grover (stayr).

Have you ever heard or Greek Mythology? Well, it is INCREDIBLE, PHENOMENAL, AWESOME, UNEXPLAINABLE,.... It's so built-up. Oh, sorry... let me tell you what Greek Mythology is. Basically is tells us how the gods and goddesses came to rule and the beginning of life, you might think, "Oh... Another boring story but believe me, when I was in 4th grade, our teacher taught us about this and we all got obssesed with it. REALLY OBSSESSED I tell you. It's out of the world!!!!

You have to read this series because it is so good that I can't even find a word good enough for it, for now, I'll say it's out of the world.

Choosing the Right Book

If you're having a hard time finding a book that you will enjoy, here are some tips to help you!

1. First of all, you should find out what genre do you like most. Each person is different, you might like to read adventure books or fiction books or mystery.

2. Once you know what genre you want to read, for example I'll just say that you like adventure book. You can either ask Ms. Stacia for an outstanding adventure book, use Destiny Quest to find a book from our library or spend some time looking around the library and find a suitable book.

3. Remember: DO NOT judge a book by its cover. The cover doesn't express and tell you what the book is about. Instead, you should flip the book and read the summary, if you like it and think that it is interesting, go check it out!

4. If it is too hard then find another book.

I hope you will be able to find a book that you will like using the steps above!

Books That I Will Read

I have a never-ending list of books to read and I wanted to share some of them to you and maybe you might decide to borrow one of them. Right now, I'm reading the second novel of Peter and the Starcatchers(another excellent book to read) which is Peter and the Shadow Theives (also really, really good). My goal is to finish the series. After I finished the series, I want to read:

Jane Erye by Charlotte Bronte
The cover doesn't look very interesting but it's a great book. Actually, it's my mom's favorite book so I decided to read it! Basically, it's about this woman named Jane Erye, she was hired by a rich man who had a crazy wife to be servant. One day, the crazy wife burned the house down and blinded the rich man. It's very emotional and the author describes the details very clearly.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
It's about this state competition. Each town has to nominate a boy and girl in the age between 11 to 19 to go to this arena and try to survive. They will not be provided with anything and every one who had been nominated has been died of stavation or any other reason. This is a very exciting book!

The Girl Who Could Fly by Victoria Forester
Actually, I don't know what this is about. Obviously I think that this book is about a girl who could fly!

Chasing Vermeer
This book is a mystery book. It's not thick, it's about the size of 39 Clues so I think that it will be a great book for anyone. It's not long too! I think that this detective is on the look out to find a missing person. I read the summary last year so I kind of forgot. My 5th Grade teacher recommended this book to me so I wanted to let you know this is a great book to read if you're interested.

Books I Have Read

Gregor the Overlander

This book is phenomenal. I really recommend this book to everybody, any adventure lovers will love this book. I usually read adventure books and this one is the most creative, wonderful one I have ever read. This book took my breath away.

Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane

This is the second part of Gregor the Overlander and it is as good as the first one. Each book has a prophecy that Gregor has to fufil and this book, this book takes place underground, he has to travel through sea and find this white monster named 'Bane' and kill it. Many creatures that went with Gregor sacrificed, it was a bit emotional.

Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods

This is the third part of Gregor the Overlander, still so, so good. In this episode, Gregor has to fufil another prophecy, this time a curse was put upon every animal that has warmblood, including Gregor's bond bat, Ares and his mom. If Gregor don't find the antidote in time, everyone who has the curse will die. Still in this part, there are many, many creatures who died. Oh and did I tell you that Gregor has a little sister called Boots. The coakroaches honor her because she is the only who can tell them apart and call her 'princess', which amuse me, Boots is definitely not a shy girl which makes her so, so cute  and silly.

Gregor and the Marks of Secret

This is the fourth part of Gregor the Overlander, Luxa, the princess of this land called Regalia and is best friend with Gregor has started war. The nasty rats are trying to rule over Regalia and defeat the humans so they are killing every mice there is in the Underland. The mice has once saved Luxa's life so now, she is taking revenge from the rat. They battle and acording to the Prophecy of Time, Gregor will be killed.

Gregor and the Code of Claw

Gregor comes back to Regalia to get the sword of Bartholew of Sandwich, the creator of Regalia and went to battle. While he fights, he also awaits for his destiny, death. Truthfully, I cried when I read the last part, it was a bit emotional, oh who am I kidding, it was so emotional. I can't tell you what made me cry but I really want to thought, try to read it. It really made me cry. I cried two times which surprised me. I love this series and is still so sad it has end.Oh and do you see that rat in the cover, that's Ripred, the friendly rat, buddy with Gregor.

So that's the end of my first few books. I'll tell you like 5 more that I read but for now, hope you check this book out from the library!
